Developed in 1907 by John Moore Robinson, Naramata’s heritage is in agriculture. In its early years, Naramata wasn’t accessible by land and paddle wheelers brought visitors by lake to Naramata. On the return trip, they took Naramata’s fruit to market. The efficiency and convenience of the Kettle Valley Railway slowly put the paddle wheelers out of business. The KVR’s rail bed still sits above the Naramata Bench and has been converted to a cycling and hiking trail.

The Naramata Bench is now home to a number of wineries with its moderate temperatures, sunshine and cooling breezes off the lake producing wines of quality.

In the tasting room, be sure to taste the Pinotage, a South African grape planted by the original owners and the only Pinotage grown in British Columbia.

TOTAL DRIVING TIME (ROUND TRIP): 50 MINUTES
RECOMMENDED TOUR TIME: HALF OR FULL DAY

DESIGNATED DRIVER
Wines should be consumed responsibly. DO NOT taste and drive. Each winery will offer you several samples and over the course of a tour, and it is easy to consume far too much wine to be able to drive. Plan ahead and choose a designated driver before you begin your tour.
