Varietals: 49% of British Columbia’s wines are white. 51% are red. In the last acreage survey conducted, 97.1% of the yield was from vinifera grapes and 2.9% from hybrids.

Acidity: This natural tartness in grapes and other fruits contributes to vibrant flavours.*

Viticulture: Grapes for Icewine are harvested at -8° Celsius or lower, and often by moonlight.

Botrytis: A fungus that attacks grape skins. In favourable conditions, it dehydrates grapes, allowing the production of intense dessert wines.*

Meritage: Rhymes with heritage. A term created in California to identify blends made with Bordeaux grape varieties.*

  River's Bend Winery

River's Bend is a family owned and operated boutique winery located on 30 acres of pastoral farmland alongside the winding banks of the Serpentine River in South Surrey, BC. Planted in 1992 in a gem of a micro climate, the winery's 15-acre vineyard yields grape varieties including Merlot, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Ortega. The grapes are grown using natural farming methods, the wines gently handcrafted and bottled at the their peak to preserve their delicate aroma and flavour.

In our wine store and tasting room we offer our fine wines and gifts. A fireplace furnishes warmth on those occasional cooler, wet afternoons. On sunnier days picnic "al fresco" on the winery's expansive patio and drink in the view overlooking the vineyards and Mount Baker. Please join us for a taste of British Columbia at River's Bend Winery.
