Terroir: The sandy soil of the Black Sage Bench near Oliver reaches 300 feet deep in places.

Viticulture: Grapes for Icewine are harvested at -8° Celsius or lower, and often by moonlight.

Terroir: The Okanagan Valley has five officially recognized sub-regions – Kelowna, Naramata, Okanagan Falls, Golden Mile, and Black Sage/Osoyoos.

History: In 1859, Oblate missionary Father Charles Pandosy planted the first vineyard at the Oblate Mission near present-day Kelowna.

Geology: Mt. Boucherie (near Kelowna) home to a number of wineries, is an extinct volcano.
