TINHORN CREEK VINEYARDS 2005 MERLOT WINS JUDGES CHOICE

Oliver, BC… Winemaker Sandra Oldfield and her team at Tinhorn Creek Vineyards are thrilled to announced their Tinhorn Creek Merlot 2005 was a Judges Choice this year in the Merlot Category of the International Value Wine Awards by Wine Access Magazine. Known as the flagship varietal for Tinhorn Creek Vineyards, the merlot is a favourite of judges and consumers alike. This follows SILVER Tasters Guild International Judging, and placing in the top three at the 2008 NorthWest Wine Summit, 2008 Grand Harvest Awards, California, 2008 San Francisco International Wine Competition, and 2008 LA Wine & Spirits Competition. The 2005 Merlot will only be on shelves for 2 more months (based on demand) so get it while the getting is good.

“My cellar team and I really try hard to let the flavours of the Merlot grapes in our vineyards show through in the glass. We let the grapes do the work.” says Oldfield. “We have always been pleased with the true varietal character of our Merlot grapes and are happy to see that the judges feel the same way.”

The International Value Wine Awards are hosted by Wine Access Magazine and are open to all wines available in Canada for less than $25 retail. The IVWA is judged blind, by panels of experts from across Canada, including wine writers, journalists, sommeliers, educators, and the Wine Access tasting panel of experts. Full results from the competition will be featured in the October/November 2008 issue of Wine Access magazine.
