Description:	Black Hills Estate Winery (www.blackhillswinery.com) is a very prestigious and successful cult winery operating on the famed Black Sage Road between Oliver and Osoyoos, B.C. in Canada. From this spectacular terroir, the winery has been producing exceptional wines including the flagship Nota Bene, along with Alibi, Carmenere and Chardonnay. Under the craftsmanship of our winemaking team, these wines have consistently sold out each year in less than a week. Current production of Black Hills is approx. 5,000 cases/ year. To meet the increasing demand for its wine, Black Hills is in the midst of a growth strategy to take it to a 10,000 case /year operation over the next 5 years. Bookkeeper / Controller Position Thanks to the success of the business and its growth, the winery now has a new position and an immediate need to hire a full-time, year-round Bookkeeper/Controller. Working closely with and reporting directly to the President, you are a team player who can create positive long term working relationships with all employees, suppliers, customers and the local community. You are hard-working and resourceful, with a proven track record of reliability and capability and a strong moral and ethical approach to bookkeeping and financial Controller duties. The successful candidate will have a broad range of bookkeeping and accounting skills in both office/retail and winery operations, and will have a ‘can do’ approach to handling a variety of tasks. This is a ‘hands on’ position that will effectively be running the entire accounting operation of the winery. General duties for this position include: • Perform all bookkeeping postings and recordings for the business • Perform regular bank reconciliations and balances • Produce monthly income statements and variance to budget • Prepare financial information for the annual financial statements done by the Auditor • Assist the General Manager with preparation of Cash Flow forecasts • Monitoring cash flow and variance to budget • Regular reporting & submission of all Source Deductions, PST, GST, Excise Tax, Property Tax, etc. • Regular reporting to all Liquor Control Agencies • Perform all Payroll functions • Managing all accounting mail correspondence daily • Post & balance daily transactions for both on-line sales and Wine Shop sales to Moneris, etc. • Process all Doc 60 forms by Credit Card to Moneris • Perform necessary bank deposits and banking, pay bills on-line where necessary • Handle all accounts receivable and payables • A / R Collections: follow-up on all invoices • Monthly monitoring of inventory and making appropriate postings to COGS • Preparation and input of all weekly cheque runs and process commissions to all Agents Experience: • Potential Candidates must have 3+ years experience working in a similar Accounting / Bookkeeping / Controller capacity in the Wine Industry, preferably in the Okanagan region. **** High priority and focus will be given to candidates living/working in Canada and / or with Canadian citizenship. Relocation is a possibility for an excellent candidate, but due to the sense of urgency of this project the goal is to find & hire a qualified Canadian candidate, ideally someone from the South Okanagan Valley region. Education / Qualification: • Completion of basic Bookkeeping program at a post-secondary institution Hours of work and role compensation: • This is anticipated to be a position that will be full time, year-round position. Salary will be commensurate with experience, and a basic employee benefits option will also be offered. Description:	Position/ Title: Tasting Room Host Job Location: Summerland, BC Date Posted: January 2010 Type of Work: Part Time Job Description: Our small, family-run, premium winery in Summerland is searching for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join our team as a part-time Tasting Room Host. We are seeking a person who has the right skill set and attitude to create a wonderful experience for our customers in our tasting room. The perfect applicant will be excited about both the sales and the hospitality components of this role. This position offers a great opportunity to learn every facet of the wine industry. It entails 1-5 full days per week of hosting and educating our customers about our wines. Work hours are from 10am to 6pm and weekend work is sometimes required. Other attributes beneficial to this position include the following: • Customer service and sales experience • Friendly outgoing personality and team player • Computer skills that include experience with Word, Excel and basic database management • Ability to wear many hats and multi-task • Ability to communicate effectively with consumers, employees and wine trade guests • Basic knowledge of wine making and varietal distinctions is a must • Must be 21 years of age • Valid Driver's License required *Above all else, a positive attitude and the ability to "sell without selling" is key.
