Sleeping Giant Fruit Winery was established in 2008 by its parent company Summerland Sweets Ltd. Summerland Sweets is a family owned and operated business with roots in the food processing industry since the 1950’s. At Sleeping Giant we use classic winemaking techniques to produce seventeen off-dry table wines and nine late-harvest style dessert wines. BC grown fruit provides the foundation for our wine portfolio, which offers many delightful taste sensations. We have a gift shop and tasting room and are open year round.
Founded in 1979, Sumac Ridge is the oldest operating estate winery in British Columbia and has been dedicated to producing 100% British Columbia grown wines since its inception. The winery is nestled in the heart of the Okanagan Valley near the scenic town of Summerland. Its celebrated Black Sage Vineyard is located in the Southern Okanagan, near the town of Oliver. Sumac Ridge Estate Winery offers a full range of quality VQA wines under the names: Sumac Ridge; Black Sage Vineyard and Steller’s Jay Sparkling.
Hand harvested and gently pressed, our wines are slowly fermented in small batch stainless steel tanks. The result is an amazingly fresh, crisp, fruit forward wine series. We invite you to come taste for yourself in our tasting room.
TH Wines are by hand, a philosophy that takes shape during winter pruning, when individual vines are given direction for the season, and ends when finished wines are lifted off the bottling line, with the work of the vintage intact. Despite the limits to production that are inherent in this choice, we favour the human touch and the winemaker’s craft over the work of machines, for the grace it brings to the vintage. These are honest demands we impose on ourselves. Letting go of the industrial norms has manifold rewards, the topmost being the joy we get from being fully immersed in a timeless food tradition.
Thornhaven Estate sits high up at the treeline of Giant's Head Mountain in Summerland, Okanagan Valley. The southeast facing vineyards ripen slowly for maximum flavour concentration. Thornhaven's semi-arid climate and gravity fed winery design are ideal for aromatic white grapes and Pinot Noir.
