Back in 1996, we started the TASTE REVOLUTION for Craft beer in Kelowna. We hit the streets and sampled customers with kegs from the back of our delivery truck. Our first customer, THE WATER ST GRILL, was located at 1346 Water Street. It's only fitting that when the location became available we grabbed it! Now connected to our past and staying true to our roots, we have built the TREE BREWING BEER INSTITUTE to share our knowledge and passion for CRAFT BEER. We hope you enjoy spending time learning about and loving craft beer at The Institute, as much as we do.
Situated in Penticton, British Columbia in the South Okanagan at the gateway to the famous Naramata Bench, Upper Bench offers a delicious experience to all by pairing their two passions: artisan wine and handcrafted cheese. Winemaker Gavin Miller believes great wine is grown in the vineyard and their vines are meticulously farmed without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Upper Bench produces big, bold, reds and crisp, dry, whites that reflect the vintage and soil from the vineyards where they are grown. Gavin’s wife, head cheesemaker Shana Miller and her team handcraft gluten and additive free soft & semi soft cheese. Your stop at Upper Bench could have you watching cheesemakers making cheese through the creamery window and enjoying a wine flight, perfectly paired with a cheese platter on their intimate patio. Choose to have your tasting in the welcoming tasting room or on the sunny patio, throw the ball for their two border collies Emma & Bella and become a member of their Curds & Corks Club to have their fine wines & cheese delivered to your door anywhere in Canada. Located just two minutes from downtown Penticton, open year round, Upper Bench is a stop not to be missed.
Van Westen Vineyards has evolved from over 60 years of family tradition, cultivating the soils of The Naramata Bench. With our expertise and emphasis on sustainable, cool climate viticultural practices, we continue to grow quality vinifera grapes and make premium wines for you to enjoy.
