More awards: Jackson Triggs - Okanagan won the 2006 Rosemount Estate Trophy for Best Shiraz/Syrah of the year at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London, England. A first for a North American Winery since they began awarding the trophy in 1994!

Geography: The southern Okanagan Valley in the area between Oliver and the border is classified as part of the Sonora Desert, which runs south to the Baja Peninsula in Mexico.

Acidity: This natural tartness in grapes and other fruits contributes to vibrant flavours.*

Growing Regions: There are five main DVAs (Designated Viticultural Areas) in British Columbia — the Okanagan Valley, Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, the Fraser Valley and the Similkameen Valley.

Varietal: When the grape variety in the wine is named on the label (Chardonnay, Merlot), the wine is a varietal.*

Fans of BC food and wine should plan to attend the sixth annual ChefmeetsGrape! The event brings quintessential BC cuisine together with new, fall releases from the Wines of British Columbia, with more than forty BC VQA wineries represented.

BC’s red-hot culinary landscape is enhanced by BC’s many award-winning wines. The restaurant chefs in this year’s event, renowned for their flair in pairing food with wines, will again compete at ChefmeetsGrape for both “Peoples Choice” and “Judges Choice” honours, as they create appetizer-sized portions of a dish using BC ingredients, paired with a selected BC VQA wine.  This year, enjoy BC VQA wines paired with wild BC seafood - including wild BC salmon, wild sablefish and albacore tuna. $5 from every ticket sold will support the Ocean Wise program, promoting sustainable seafood in our restaurants. Come to taste, sip, vote, mingle and enjoy an evening of great BC wine, food and fun!
