ADVOCACY – WORKING WITH GOVERNMENT.

Through collaborative advocacy, the BCWI represents our members’ interests to government. We work with other industry stakeholders to establish direction on regulatory policy and other issues. We give government and specific ministries the information they need to formulate regulatory policies that create a healthy business climate for our members.

Recently, we helped lead the creation of the British Columbia Wine Authority, a new provincial body that will oversee enforcement of the Vintners Quality Alliance standard in BC.

Assist government with industry consultation on regulatory policy.

Lobby the federal government for regulatory and taxation policy changes at the national level through our membership in the Canadian Vintners Association.

Maintain strong relationships with the Office of the Solicitor General and Public Safety to make selling wine more profitable in BC.

Lead BC’s participation in the development of national wine standards.
